Thunder
Bay. The Canadian Nurses Association has awarded the Thunder
Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre an Employer Recognition
Award. The CNA Innovation Award is received by TBRHSC in recognition
of our organizational commitment to CNA Certification.
This is especially meaningful as this award has been bestowed
upon us during National Nurses Week.
This prestigious National Award honours an employer who has
shown an exceptional commitment to supporting Registered Nurses
pursuing and maintaining National Certification in nursing
specialties or areas of nursing practice. The strategic positioning
of our award recognizes our overall commitment to lifelong
learning and the commitment to advanced specialty education
across the organization and the strength of our collaboration
with the de Souza Institute and our Regional Cancer Program.
On October 15, 2010 Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences
Centre hosted a special celebration of nursing expertise and
commitment to lifelong learning. This special celebration
recognized the TBRHSC nurses who had attained Canadian Nurses
Association Certification in their respective nursing specialties,
such as Cardiovascular, Critical Care, Emergency, Neuroscience,
Oncology, as well as other specialty areas.
To attain CNA Certification, a Registered Nurse must have
a minimum of two years experience in a particular clinical
area and must pass a rigorous national exam to demonstrate
expert knowledge in their area of clinical practice.
This event to honour our nursing Certification recipients
was hosted by TBRHSC with special guest Barb Mildon, President
Elect of the Canadian Nurses Association.
The Canadian Nurses Association Innovation Award recognizes
Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre’s ongoing
commitment to the highest standards of nursing practice and
expertise through the pursuit and maintenance of advanced
specialty education across the organization.
