Annual Accessibility Plan Approved by Board of Directors

Click to listen to this page using ReadPleaseThe Annual Accessibility Plan was presented to the Board of Directors of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC) at its monthly meeting on September 13, 2006. The plan describes the measures TBRHSC has undertaken what it plans to do during this next year to improve accessibility for persons with disabilities within the Health Sciences Centre. The plan was developed by TBRHSC’s Accessibility Advisory Team in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act, 2005.

During the presentation of the Plan to the Board of Directors, Chair of the Team, Don Halpert stated, “Organizations change when our people do, and we must educate and capture the hearts and minds of our staff, volunteers and physicians. That’s why our catch phrase this year is ‘Strategic Change’”.

TBRHSC is very thankful for the members of PUSH Northwest, CNIB, Canadian Hearing Society, Independent Living Resources and the other community members who give their time to sit on the Accessibility Advisory Team.

The Annual Accessibility Plan and Accessibility Feedback Survey are available on the internal and external websites. A revised Accessibility Feedback Survey is now available within the Health Sciences Centre.

Ron Saddington expressed support for the process. “We are constantly looking for ways to make improvements within the TBRHSC and the Annual Accessibility Plan allows us to see what is happening and what needs to be done in order to achieve our goals. We want 2007 to be rewarding in our quest for “Strategic Change” by providing accessibility for persons with disabilities”.
